Nyetimber English Sparkling Wine
02 August 2016
Some of you may have seen on social media that the team took a little trip down south to learn more about where our beautiful English Sparkling Wine comes from.
Nestled amongst the picturesque West Sussex countryside, the historic Nyetimber Estate is nothing short of amazing. With Britain's oldest Chardonnay vines planted back in 1988, plus a manor house once inhabited by Anne of Cleeves, the estate oozes character and charm.
Geologically Nyetimber's 170 hectares of vineyards sits on the same chalk seam as Champagne. This makes the terrior very similar, although we can hold our heads high and say this one's ours and it's uniquely British.
What we also realised is that these guys have an intense attention to detail. Starting with the hand selection of the different vineyard microclimates, the grapes are then tested so they can execute precise blending decisions.
Ultimately the crafting of wine is done to the strict rules of traditional method. This is some of the finest Sparkling Wine in the world... and we mean Champagne too!
Aside from the grande tour we also had the opportunity to taste some fairly special wine which we will be bringing to the restaurant, extending our range to offer you some of the most dynamic and exciting sparkling wine on the planet. It's a tough job but someone's gotta do it.
